Over an 8-year cycle ~ Mother Venus weaves her tapestry into a Cosmic Rose. This 5-petaled geometic rose holds the Mother Keys to creation ~ the sacred feminine mysteries ~ mirroring her synodic spirals around the earth.

She gracefully dances through 5 synodic cycles in her Rose ~ gifting us a cosmic map of the Goddess ~ an ancient memory of descent and resurrection, of decay and rising.

We see her sacred scripture mirrored in the myth of Inanna ~ the first recorded feminine mystery teaching from ancient Sumeria over 10,000 years ago. Etched into clay scribes ~ it reveals the rapture of the Venusian Rose mysteries.

Inanna ~ the Queen of Heaven and Earth, Goddess of love, fertility and war ~ she is the mythos medicine of descent and the alchemical gold which births through the underworld initiation. She is the ancient memory of the feminine frequency, mirrored in the dance of Venus.

Innana hears a call into the underworld mysteries ~ descending from her Earthly throne through 7 gates of “hell” to meet her Sister Erishkegal ~ an archetypal flavour of the shadow Self.

The gates shed her all egoic identity ~ only to enter the underworld Naked, stripped bare of falsity in her stark vulnerability.

Innana is met by the rage of her sister and is struck dead ~ hung on a hook and left to “rot” in the decay of death. Only to be resurrected by two mythological creatures sent down by the God Enki ~ offering sincere compassion and holding to the ache of Erishkegal.

Allowing Inanna to rise from the ashes ~ seeding ancient codes of rebirth ~ and the essence of a warrior.

This mythos weaves tales of grief, shedding, un-becoming, death ~ and resurrection, rebirth, alchemical rising.

In Venus'  19-month cycle, she moves through the archetypal feminine descent ~ mirroring the mythos of Inanna.

Evening Star ~ Visible in the Western sky after Sunset ~ shining in her sovereignty ~ Venus rests here for 260 days ~ Innana as Queen of Heaven and Earth in Her full embodiment.

Venus Retrograde ~ Venus Fades from the Sky ~ Innana hears the call to the Great Below ~ She Descends the 7 gates into the Underworld during the 40-day retrograde ~ a time of shedding.

Inferior Conjunction ~ Venus is exactly between Earth and Sun ~ Invisible and swallowed in the velvet Void of the underworld for 8 days ~ Innana is struck dead here by Erishkegal and is “hung” on the hook. 

Morning Star Rises ~ Venus is still in retrograde, but her rebirth is stirring ~ lasting a week or two. Innana is being resurrected through the empathy of the mythological creatures to Erishkegals' grief ~ “oh my heart, oh your heart”. In the face of compassion, Innana is revived.

Morning Star Journey ~ Venus stations direct and is now out of retrograde ~ Visible for Sunrise ~ She was rebirthed with the bold courageous wisdom of the underworld. She is emerging as the alchemical warrior ~ fierce and humbled by the Dark.

Superior Conjunction ~ Venus disappears from view for 8 days once again ~ a void space of integration from the underworld mysteries ~ reflection on her Wisdom and deepening into embodiment.

Venus Returns as Evening Star ~ Venus reappears after sunset in the West, back to Evening Star but she has changed,

Holding the embodied wisdom and alchemical medicine of the underworld, her essence has transformed.

As she begins to journey into the new cycle…

This is the Innana encoded Map of Venus's Sydodic Cycle lasting approximately 19 months.

Over 8 years, she completes this cycle 5 times, weaving the Cosmic Rose in the tapestry of the ecliptic path.

And it is within her retrograde phases and the inferior conjunctions which form the petaled Rose.

This holds the alchemical key ~ that the Rose mysteries, the feminine ~ is a descent into the ache ~ to soften all that is not love into the unconditional arms of the Mother. 

She teaches us descension for ascension ~ a softening into shedding ~ an “unbecoming” to find the core of creation.

To become a Goddess of Love ~ we must honour the Goddess of War.

Sitting in the heart of the ache ~ until the suffering softens into erotic innocence ~ infinite bliss.

Venus orbits the Sun in around 225 days ~ So she dances through the Zodiacs in a faster-paced rhythm than with Earth.

This means she embodied the 12 Zodiacs and annoints some of the signs more than once. In her retrograde, she typically embodies One Sign ~ which is considered the “heart of the cycle”.

The intention of Venus Rose Cycle is to honour the archetypal embodiment of the Zodiacs in the feminine frequency.
